Strangely addictive, the applications of doll making are endless. Historical sources and effigy making, the possibilities for tale telling, artistry and psychological conundrums await!!
Meanwhile the original catalyst of making a doll for my granddaughter, has progressed into characters…this doll I wrestled with because she was a bit ugly, so I thought no one else would want her. It left me free to do what I wanted to do and strangely led to a lot of research on 8th century Viking clothing, Perhaps I’m a secret re-enactor, but this is by far the most interesting way of experiencing the history without camping in a car park with an overload of high status Vikings, playing Games of Thrones. ( Sincere apologies to you who approach re-enactment from an interest in living archaeological history )
